Martin Youth Foundation is the powerful legacy of the former governor of NSW,
Sir David Martin, who founded the foundation days before his passing, in 1990. Known by everyone around him for his kindness and special ability to connect with people from all walks of life, Sir David Martin especially wanted to help young people.
For more than 35 years, the Foundation has been a safe harbour for young people whose lives have been impacted by dependence. From adrift to empowered
Young people find themselves experiencing alcohol or other drug dependence for many different reasons. At Martin Youth Foundation, we don’t judge how they got there. Instead, we invest in compassionate, evidence-based support that helps young people rebuild their confidence, rediscover their strengths and create a future filled with purpose.
Over the years, we’ve helped thousands of young Australians turn their lives around. Every recovery journey is unique, but each one is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a young person is given the right support at the right time.
With the support of Martin Youth Foundation, Max went to Mission Australia’s Triple Care Farm in 2018 after years of drug use left him isolated and struggling. Through counselling, practical life skills and supportive mentors, he found the confidence to rebuild his life.
Today, he’s in a loving relationship, saving for his first home and looking forward to the future.
Triple Care Farm isn’t just rehab,” Max says, “it’s life coaching. It’s one of the best things you can do.

Our name has changed
Sir David Martin Foundation is now Martin Youth Foundation (as at 1st September 2026)
While our name and branding have changed, our legal entity, ABN (37 506 673 286) and commitment to vulnerable young Australians remain the same. Any gift you have included in your Will to Sir David Martin Foundation will continue to support our work.
If you have already included a gift in your Will, you do not need to change it. However, when next reviewing your Will, we recommend updating the wording to our new name to make things as clear as possible for your executors and solicitor. Please refer to our brochure for suggested wording for your Will.
