Captain William Martin RAN (Rtd)
Sir David and Lady Martin’s son, Captain Martin RAN (Rtd) joined the Sir David Martin Foundation Board in 2015 and has been Chair since December 2020. Will’s career started at the Royal Australian Naval College in 1982 and his final role was Commanding Officer HMAS WATSON. Will is a professional speaker, certified Organisational and Team Coach, and the Director of Waterline Leadership.
Anna Beaumont
Anna Beaumont, the daughter of Sir David and Lady Martin, has always been an integral part of the Foundation. Starting as a Fundraising Coordinator in 2011 and later excelling in the role of Philanthropy Manager until her retirement in 2023, Anna forged deep connections with donors, staff, and the young beneficiaries of our programs throughout her 12-year tenure. Now, as a member of the Board, Anna is thrilled to continue championing her father’s vision and to stay connected with our community.
Anthony Cheshire SC
Anthony was called to the English Bar in 1992 and practised at the bar in London before moving to the New South Wales Bar in 2004. He practices from the 8th Floor of Wentworth Chambers in a broad range of areas, but with a particular focus upon general commercial, corporations, insolvency, equity, probate, charities, associations, inquiries, property, licensing, insurance and professional negligence. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2015.
Peter Evans
Peter joined the Sir David Martin Foundation Board in 2021. He joined Ramsay Health Care in 1969 and served as a Non-Executive Director for 24 years before being appointed Deputy Chairman in 2014. Peter is a Chartered Accountant and, prior to joining Ramsay Health Care, was in public practice for over 20 years with the predecessor firms of KPMG. Peter is a Founding Board member of the Paul Ramsay Foundation.
Paul Hennessy
Paul joined the Sir David Martin Board in 2020. He is Australian Sales Leader at Mercer and has over 35 years of investment industry experience. Prior to joining Mercer, his previous roles included Managing Director, Australia/New Zealand at Capital Group and head of Australian and New Zealand distribution for Macquarie Bank’s fund management division.
Jie Qian
Jie has nearly 20 years of management consulting and commercial experience within financial service, mining, FMCG and health industries specialising in technology, strategy and mergers and acquisitions across the Asia Pacific region. Jie is currently the Head of Credit Risk Technology at Macquarie.
Jie is an effective communicator within a wide spectrum of audiences, ranging from board members, investors, executive teams and strategic suppliers to drive the right commercial outcomes through effective governance even in the absence of direct operational control.
Jie is a proud mentor to Women in Technology at Macquarie and serves in several advisory roles across the technology start up sector, a reflection of her passion at nurturing and supporting the next generation.
